Spotlight on: Vellum

There are so many different ways to add texture and design to your wedding stationery and “day of” pieces. Today we are highlighting translucent vellum – a high quality paper resembling parchment paper, but thicker. Vellum can be the perfect addition to any type of wedding suite – ranging from traditional to contemporary to floral.

We will show a few different ways to include vellum in your suite, but the options are endless!

A belly band, or strip of paper wrapped around your invitation suite, can be a great way to incorporate vellum. It has the effect of keeping your invitation pieces together (like a ribbon or pocket would), while still displaying your invitation as soon as your guests open the envelope. You can have the belly band printed with your names, a custom monogram, the date of your wedding, a custom pet sketch (dogs are children too!), or other design elements from your invitation.

Another option is to print your invitation directly onto vellum. Behind the vellum, you can include a design, floral imagery, or custom artwork printed on card stock. Your guests get to keep an art print as a keepsake from your invitation, long after the party is over! You can carry this theme through your big day by printing other elements directly on vellum. A vellum menu tucked into a colorful napkin might be just the touch your tables need.

VELLUM OVERLAY

A vellum overlay can be a great way to incorporate custom design and graphic elements if you’d like to keep your main invitation simple. Do you have a favorite floral from your bouquet that you’d like to spotlight? A custom watercolor of your ceremony or reception venue? A monogram or logo you’d like to use throughout your pieces? This can be printed directly on vellum, with your invitation printed on any of our paper options underneath. Let the vellum float on top, secure it with a grommet, or tie it with ribbon or cord. The vellum overlay can then be used in your day of stationery, with menus, programs, or welcome cards.

Enclosing your invitation suite in a full vellum wrap really changes the experience your guests have when opening your invitation. It is like opening a gift! Vellum wraps can be secured in a variety of ways, such as with a thin metallic cord and a real wax seal. An off-white vellum can be printed with a monogram or custom designs, or you could use a black vellum if you are looking for darker tones in your suite.
