Spotlight on: Color

Is anyone else’s favorite day of the year Pantone Color of the Year day? We are so excited to see the bright, classic blue they’ve chosen for this year. We’ve already seen the trend coming to life, with our clients looking for ways to add pops of color to their invitation suites, hinting at the florals, tablescapes, and fabrics that will be center stage on their big day. Schedule an appointment to stop by the studio so we can bring your color dreams to life!

Below are a few of our favorite ways to bring color into your invitation suite:

Color Blocking

We love keeping things simple throughout your suite and adding color with your cardstock. You can do this by adding a statement piece in a bold color, like your RSVP envelope or details card, or we also love to do a monochromatic or ombré style with each piece in coordinating colors in varying tones or gradually going from light to dark of one shade.

In this modern suite, we played with blues, keeping things consistent with navy text throughout, and tying it all together with a wide vellum belly band.

Colorful Envelopes with White Printing

You heard it here first! 2020 is the year of white printing on darker and colorful envelopes. We love how this can tie your invitation suite together. Using navy text and a navy envelope liner? Add a final pop of navy with your RSVP envelope or for Save the Date envelopes as shown below. The white printing really pops against vibrant hues.

A Bright Ribbon Ties it All Together

Sometimes your invitation suite needs one final touch of something to bring everything together and hint at the celebration to come. Sometimes that’s a printed belly band or a simple gold cord. This can also be another opportunity to bring in a bold color as Liz did below with these gorgeous hand-torn marigold ribbons. The bold hue was integrated seamlessly into her big day – through bridesmaids dresses and table decor. The ribbon on her invitations set the tone perfectly.

A vellum overlay, including custom watercolors of the ceremony and reception venues, is secured to the invitation with a delicate gold cord.
